GENERATION

WORKING SESSION | June 23rd WEBINAR | July 1st

secure and scale an evolving fuel mix

How do we balance supply chains, weather extremes, generation gaps and sustainable energy independence?

The U.S. fuel mix to generators is under dramatic change. New weather, market, and policy risks to fuel supply are emerging rapidly. End-use customers, more than ever, demand onsite electricity solutions that rely on some form of distributed energy supply.

FUEL SUPPLY | GENERATION

CONTEXT

The U.S. fuel mix for power generation is rapidly changing, with new weather, market, and policy risks emerging. Extreme weather events, such as the 2021 Texas winter storm, have exposed vulnerabilities in fuel supply, causing generator failures and widespread blackouts. As demand grows for onsite electricity solutions, there is increasing concern about the ability to secure reliable fuel for both traditional and newer energy technologies. Individual generators and customers cannot affordably mitigate extreme weather risks, leaving the industry searching for cohesive strategies to ensure fuel supply resilience.

LEADING THE CONVERSATION

The Fuel Supply session of the GRIDIRON Dialogues, co-hosted by NERC, will explore these issues with experts in generation planning, transmission systems, and climate analytics, focusing on investment strategies and risk-sharing in the evolving energy landscape.

1/6

Through all of its complexity, the grid of the future will be singularly focused on providing an abundance of affordable, secure, reliable, and resilient electricity.
